Post Pregnancy Laser Stretch Marks Removal Treatment
Stretch marks scars form as part of the skin's healing process whenever multiple layers of skin are injured or stretched. While the exact cause of stretch marks is unknown, it could be due to collagen and elastin breaking down under stress. Pregnancy, and weight gain are the leading causes of stretch marks. Stretch marks occur most commonly in the breasts, abdomen, thighs, groin or buttocks. In the past, excision, steroid injections and the use of topical creams and ointments were used for the treatment of scars and stretch marks with variable effects. The latest laser treatment stimulates the skin under the scar and causes the fibroblasts & collagen to grow. This thickens the skin under the scar until it closely resembles the surrounding normal skin. The appearance of stretch marks continues to improve over a period of time ranging from 3 - 6 months after the laser treatment was given. Best candidates for this treatment are the ones having a fair complexion and light pigmentation and with shallow scars or stretch marks.
