
Inverted Nipple Surgery

Some women have nipples which permanently point inwards mostly caused by a short milk duct pulling the outside of nipple in. Surgery involves the release of tight structures in nipple and placement of purse-string suture at the base of the nipple. Surgery is done under local anesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. Side effects include temporary bruising, swelling, discomfort, decreased sensation; inability to breastfeed the child.
