Neck Lift Surgery (Platysmaplasty)
Platysmaplasty is a surgery designed to reduce the appearance of neck bands in the central part of neck. Persons who complain of having a fleshy neck ,neck banding, or a turkey waddle are the ones who can benefit from this procedure.
The procedure involves removal of preplatysmal fat (fat causing double chin) along with anterior plication of platysma muscles . A small submental incision is made, and the fatty deposits in the neck are excised either directly or removed via open suction suction assisted fat removal. This is followed by excision of a wedge of muscle below the level of the thyroid cartilage of neck. Lastly midline plication is performed to tighten the platysma muscle for improved contour of anterior neck line .
