Plastic Surgery Procedures:
Breast Augmentation

Dr. Kapoor's cosmetic surgery clinic offers a full range of cosmetic surgical procedures.

A breast implant is a prosthesis used to enlarge the size of a woman's breasts. Breast augmentation is done to enhance the size of breasts using inflatable implants filled with either saline or silicone.

The main indications are to enlarge small breasts (augmentation), Lift sagging breasts. (Ptosis correction), Reconstruct absent breasts (breast reconstruction), Correct unequal sized breasts (symmetry correction), and reconstruct the breast after surgery (e.g. Mastectomy) or to correct genetic deformities (Poland Syndrome).

There are two primary types of breast implants: saline and silicone gel implants. Saline implants have a silicone rubber shell filled with sterile saline liquid. Silicone gel implants have a silicone shell filled with a viscous silicone gel.

Cohesive gel Implants contain high density silicone gel, which is highly resistant to leakage or rupture. Cohesiveness of these implants is likely to eliminate or significantly reduce silicone migration.

Surgery is done under general anaesthesia and takes about 2 hours. Hospitalization is needed for one day and sutures are removed after 7 days.

You can get back to work in a few days. Strenuous activity and physical contact can be started in 3 to 4 weeks. Fading of scars takes several months to a year or more.

The risks include:

  1. Surgical removal or replacement of the implants may be required to treat problems, including: rupture of implant; the formation of scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture), bleeding or infection.
  2. Increase or decrease in sensitivity of nipples or breast skin, occasionally permanent
